Beach Poetry : I Saw From the Beach by Thomas Moore

I Saw From the Beach

by Thomas Moore

I saw from the beach, when the morning was shining,
A bark o’er the waters move gloriously on;
I came when the sun o’er that beach was declining,
The bark was still there, but the waters were gone.

And such is the fate of our life’s early promise,
So passing the spring-tide of joy we have known;
Each wave that we danced on at morning ebbs from us,
And leaves us, at eve, on the bleak shore alone.

Oh, who would not welcome that moment’s returning
When passion first waked a new life through his frame,
And his soul, like the wood that grows precious in burning,
Gave out all its sweets to love’s exquisite flame.

On the beach I found a seashell
luster of colors mixed with gold illuminate

Washed by the sea millions of times
tides turn as gentle footprints remain

I sit and ponder, how could it happen
salt breeze within an ocean’s breath inhales

A journey of unimaginable time
drifting murmurs echo against waves crashing

In the sunlight it shone with many shades
satin pearl treasure heart between two shells

Carefully I opened and found its soul
it was then as one on whitewashed wings we flew free

I found a beautiful princess of the sea
Upon a sigh or dream revealed its inner secret

A walk along the beach at Tramore

The sight of sunlight shining on the water just dazzling,
The sound of waves breaking delicately on the sand,
The feeling of the suns warming my skin,
The cool wetness of the sand between my toes.

Fellow dog walkers passing by,
Saying hello and talking for a while,
Their dogs swim and bring back sticks,
The marks they level in the sand,
Smoothed again by the waves.

A beach walk at tramor waterford.

The fresh breeze moving through me,
Slipping across the water a sea bird gliding silently,
The salty sea air carrying her to deeper waters.

Above me seagulls friends swirl singing their daily song,
Before diving down into the sea to snatch a fish.

The breeze and warming sun feeding my soul,
The enchanting pleasures of sight and sounds,
I breathe in the wonderful scent of salt water that fills the air,

The intoxicating aroma of wildflowers thick along the dunes,
A feeling of contentment fills every corner of my being,
As I walk along the beach I realise… Life has true beauty…

Dragon Sculpture

A little while back on a visit to Tramore Beach, County Waterford I photographed these art students working on beach sculpture before a competition the following weekend.

It was amazing to watch them for a while as they practised their projects, the images below are of a dragon that they intended to create on the day.
