Light

A Poem By Margaret Tait

Did you say it’s made of waves?
Yes, that’s it.
I wonder what the waves are made of.
Oh, waves are made of waves.
Waves are what they are,
Shimmeringness,
Oscillation,
Rhythmical movement which is the inherent essence of all things.
Ultimately, there’s only movement,
Nothing else.
The movement that light is
Comes out of the sun
And it’s so gorgeous a thing
That nothing else is ever anything unless lit by it.

light

Light is a way,
Light is a zone,
Light is a past,
Which shows the future.
Light is a mountain,
Light is a hurdle,
Light is a debt,
Which leads to the quest.
Light is a beginning,
Light is a end,
Light is a truth,
Which gives us a fruit.
Light is a flower,
Light is a fragrance,
Light is a life,
Which gives hope to survive.

St Peters Rome

The Light of the Sun

Over the Christmas Holiday 2015/16 we visited Rome a city I love very much for among many things its amazing buildings.

On visiting St Peters Basilica, a must do ! , the weather was just amazing for the time of year. Along with the stunning architecture and art, the one thing I could not help but notice was the light from the low December Sun flooding through the many windows located high on the walls around the many domes and chapels.

I spent a lot of time doing my best to capture the effects that this Sun light was creating and here just wanted to share a few of my attempts.

Rome is a city of outstanding churches, none however can hold a candle to St Peter’s (Basilica di San Pietro), Italy’s largest, richest and most spectacular basilica. It is Built atop an earlier 4th-century church, it was completed in 1626 after 120 years’ construction.

Its lavish interior contains many spectacular works of art, including three of Italy’s most celebrated masterpieces: Michelangelo’s Pietà, his soaring dome, and Bernini’s 29m-high baldachin over the papal altar.

Monday

So here we are again , the start of another week.

I have been feeling a little in need of some inspiration this Morning, so sat down and put these images and poem together!

From Sunday Sunset to Monday Sunrise

Today is yet another Monday
I wakeup and wonder about yesterday
Then about today, Monday

Sunday to Monday, Yesterday

Just passing the days
Deep orange Sunsets,a rhythm in my heart
Is It all just a painting
A dream on the edge of a disk?

Sunday, Monday, Yesterday

I am sometimes without you
No Light to guide my way
How can I be expected to see the way
While seeing only you
Even while your gone

Sunday, Monday, Yesterday

I am at a silent age
When You’re not with me

Come great Star
Run to me with your light
Guide my way

Sunday, Monday, Yesterday

Ancient Disk of light

Monday
and
I am with you.

From Sunday to Monday Monday Sunrise

The changing light as the river flows

Walking along the river Suir on a springtime evening with the sun about to set, is a wonderful experience by itself but one of the things I love the most is the changing light. The light changes almost moment by moment and the reflections of the sun from the water is just amazing as you walk past some of the many bridges.

One of the best things about photography however is the ability to capture just how much this light does change, I recently put together this small collection of images and I think they show the way the light changes as the sun sets.

The entire landscape changes from yellows and and olive greens to deep blues and blue – greens.

I personally feel that the type of sun light and the different colours it brings is one of the most powerful tools in the art of photography and taking a little time to record your most loved locations at different times of day and weather conditions is a powerful learning tool for getting strong images and for you to have fun with and enjoy yourself.

Seeing the Morning light

By : Diana van den Berg

Dreaming into the light
swimming
flying
embracing
touching
the spreading awareness
warm light
light
losing self in the light
light
finding the harmony of balance
in namaste and ubuntu
and the messages of the clouds
in the light
light
spreading
amongst tall sunpainted autumn grasses
inhaling the unconscious grace
of a giraffe melting into
the late afternoon gold
of light caressing the shadows
and drawing them
into the light
light light…
