There are so many great quotes from John Lennon, but this one has to be one of his best πŸ™‚

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down β€˜happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”

John Lennon

In current times finding happiness has become very important for our mental health, we all need to fight as hard as possible to achieve personal happiness, never let anyone for what ever reason put you in any other mood than a generally happy one !

One tool I have developed over the last weeks to active this aim is to stop reading/watching or listening to the daily news, I could write an essay on the why’s but life is to short!

Just stop listening, get outside as often as you can (walk, say hello to people, look at the landscape around you), it is not selfish to make sure your in a good mental place, you can give more to others if you are!

Happiness needs working at, working to find the things that make you happy and at the same time dismissing the things that don’t – it takes work !!!!

  1. Dear Nigel,

When I go to India to offer my help for the needy and poor people, in the project “Kirpal Sagar”, I am for 2 weeks without any news, do not know any thing what happens in the world and I feel happy with it. Whenever you hear news, they have the colour of negativity, seldom of things that touches our heart in a positive way. In fact what all those medias write and say, is almost a kind of brain-wash, we are manipulated according to their opinions – so it is good to breathe fresh air in the nature in order not to be poluted by their contagious thougths and words.

Have a great time, dear friend and thanks for sharing πŸ™‚

      • Dear friend Nigel,

I have also given up to watch TV. I rather watch documentaries I am interested in, then I can chose myself what to see and under the influence what others want me to see. It is important that our own thoughts are not infected by negativity, but that we think in a positive way as it is said: What we think we become… The drop in the ocean is connected in the same way we all are connected -when we start changing ourselves it will have effect to the whole (the butterfly effect). And Gandhi said: “Be the change you wish to see in the world…” Means, we first have to start with ourselves to clean ourselves from the endless shortcomings in us – we have to become aware of them and not to keep then in unconscious habits. Sant Kirpal Singh also said: “Reformers are needed, not of others, but of themselves…” In this way we can contribute to the whole, to make our world a better place.

Thank you very much, dear Nigel πŸ™‚
All the best, my friend πŸ™‚
