Dubrovnik city walls and roof top views

If you visit the town of Dubrovnik in the region of Dalmatia within Croatia, you just have to walk the walls.

The Walls are a feature of Dubrovnik that run almost 2km around the city. The walls run from four to six metres thick on the landward side but are much thinner on the seaward side. The system of turrets and towers were intended to protect the vulnerable city.

These images were taken one morning in June 2011, while walking the full length around the city, the views of the rooftops and the city that sits on the Mediterranean sea where just wonderful.

Nigel, absolutely beautiful! I have a new tablet (Nexus 10) and your images show up very nicely, correctly scaled and the shadowing really adds to the effect. I am not sure what galley setting you use, but I have to click each image rather than swipe. I am not complaining 🙂 it is worth the effort.

    • Hello Andy…..

That you, very pleased you like them. 🙂

I don’t use a word press gallery setting if that is what you are meaning , they are setup using photo-shop then added into the text. I wanted to use them in this format on my web site at some point soon and keep them looking the same way.

      Thank’s Andy 🙂

    Wonderful photos, Nigel.
Your photos remind me of my short visit in 1976 – I’d love to visit again & capture some of the sights again with a DSLR).

    • Hello Victoria 🙂

It would be a great visit again, I very much like the city, the old town is a great place for street photography and city scape work. It’s not to big to manage and really fascinating 🙂

If you had a week you can also have time to go the the island just off the coast 🙂
