The Kilkenny – Iverk show, is held in the village of (Piltown, county Kilkenny) each September.
It’s a great day of agricultural events from horse and cattle shows to equipment demonstrations.
The sheep shearing competitions and demonstrations each year bring in a big crowd. The images below show how sheep are sheared both in modern and older times.

I like the old timer with hand shears, I have never seen that in real life, although we had the hand shears for trimming hedges when i was young 🙂

It was an amazing thing to watch, I could get my head around the electric shears and that fact that all the wool came of in one go but to see exactly the same thing repeated with hand shears was just, well like I say Amazing 🙂

Yes, that’s very true but like you say – the skill they have is just wonderful to watch, I bet they get more cuts with the electric one’s in truth !!!!
