they are http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iris_pseudacorus and the river bank fields are full of them at the moment, just brilliant to see

used to have lots of the top one growing in swathes on a nearby croft when I lived on Skye, can’t remember it’s name. Lovely photos.

The yellow flower, iris, doesn’t look like any of the irises I see in the Botanic Gardens – how unusual.
