A Poem for the weekend – The Road Not Taken By : Robert Frost
“The Road Not Taken” by : Robert Frost is a favorite poem of his, I often re-read it and sometimes think of it when out in our local woods here in County Kilkenny.
This weekend I hope you can find time to walk your own path and roads, enjoy yourself and get to relax and put the last week behind you .
The Road Not Taken
By Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and Iβ
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
I love this poem. Perfect images to go with it Nigel π

I am so pleased you included the ending, which emphasizes there are no singular paths, we may take two by going back another day. This meaning is often lost by reading just the first part. You are so wise to include Robert Frost with such lovely artistry. Your photography is always amazing, Nigel!

I look forward to your poems and images. Saw TV programme about Frost and Edward Thomas and I am pretty sure that they quoted this poem

One of my favourites! I borrowed an audiobook from the library that has Robert Frost reading his poetry. It gives a special perspective when the voice is truly from the poet. π

Beautiful….But we have to make choices…And a lot of times, we feel that uneasiness that may be the other was better…
