I first displayed this image as part of a photography exhibition about six years ago, It was taken on a very wet day on the beach and it was a pleasure to work with about five Kite flyers for the day. Keeping the camera dry was a skill I had to learn very quickly…..

Ominous sky with a little light sneaking through, perfectly focused kite, with a proper magnifier I might be able to count the stitches 🙂 A beautiful shot! I love days like this, the water, the reflections. You mentioned keeping the camera dry, I half expected a followup shot from above :), umbrellas making good kites at least expected times!
