The Blackbird

By : William Ernest Henley.

The nightingale has a lyre of gold,
The lark’s is a clarion call,
And the blackbird plays but a boxwood flute,
But I love him best of all.

For his song is all of the joy of life,
And we in the mad, spring weather,
We two have listened till he sang
Our hearts and lips together.

  5. Your picture is a poem in itself but it is also a lovely poem by William Ernest Henley.
Have you noticed when it’s winter, the blackbird is humming. As if it is practicing for spring πŸ™‚

  10. Oh! How perfect to catch the moon behind that lovely blackbird……….it’s a stunning image. Soft lighting, he looks very content perched alone on his branch in the dead of night.

    Just gorgeous, Nigel. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
